Thinking of going away for the August bank holiday weekend?

Everyone likes to be helpful.

That’s why we have spent the last 4 hours trawling Kayak to give you some great ideas to go away for the bank holiday weekend without paying a fortune for your flights.

It’s not easy, and Italy seems to be particularly tough, but we have come up with 3 great destinations to fly out Friday and arrive safely back in London by the time work comes around on Tuesday morning.

Instead of giving you the airlines, exact times and links to ever changing flight prices for the below, simply type in www.kayak.co.uk and search for the flights and dates we list below. Quickly, before they are all gone!

Fly to:

South of France
Marseille is pricey to fly into, Nice worse at this time of year.  But we found a few flights still available to the lovely Montpellier and back to London for £179, if you take the Friday off work.

Denmark
A weekend in Copenhagen is, well,  a weekend well spent. Flights aren’t too pricey either for the bank holiday with the cheapest option at £108 giving you a really early start or paying a bit more at £123 and enjoying nice late leaving times when you begin and finish your journey.

Berlin
We really need to get back to Berlin. It’s a perfect destination for a long weekend of hanging out and partying. The flights are not too bad either. If you don’t mind getting up early you can get out there and back for £149 with EasyJet.  For an early afternoon take off there are flights available now for £172.

We love getting on planes!

It’s here, it’s finally here

The whole team at Not Just a Holiday are thrilled to announce the launch of our brand new website, www.NotJustaHoliday.co.uk.

It’s been a labour of love and we hope that you enjoy it.

We have spent the last 6 months beavering away into the dark hours because we have been lucky enough to visit some of the most interesting places on earth.  We’ve stayed in some truly great places – from beautiful, opulant hotels to rugged but charming guest houses and been amazed by the things we have seen and inspired by people we have met along the way.

From all these experiences we decided that we wanted to spread the word.  To put it concisely, we love finding something extraordinary and then telling you all about it. We want to help you have a trip of a lifetime.

So, a little bit more information about the website:

NotJustaHoliday.co.uk is split into 6 categories. We think it offers visitors the chance to find holiday inspiration in the category that suits their preference – whether you like some serious luxury, prefer to feel the wind with thrill seeking, want to Discover something new or if you need a bit of Inspiration, we think we have got some great ideas about where to go and what to do on your next trip abroad.

Additionally, we have addeed a Our Countries special section, which will be a regularly updated list of what’s best in the countries we have been visiting.

So, check it out, let us know what you think and keep coming back regularly – although small, our team are determined to get out there and show you what’s best in this fantastic world of ours.

Favourite travel experiences of the week #7

Well, what a couple of weeks it’s been at Not Just a Holiday HQ.  We have had never ending problems with our internet connection as well as some genuinely tricky technical problems with the launch of the new website.

However, there is light at the end of this particular tunnel and we are confident (kind of!) that we will be launching the fantastic, beautiful, informing and essential NotJustaHoliday.co.uk website this week.  Yes, that is right, this week.

Until then you will just have to make do with our weekly round-up of our latest favourite travel experiences of the week.  Enjoy.

1) Although this blog hasn’t been updated since 2008 and reading the whole thing takes ages, we though it was great and worthy of inclusion. Karie and Scott’s European adventure is exactly what it says on the tin.

2) Ahhh the almost fearless team – you really spoil us. Great article about the ‘anatomy of a burnout‘.

3) We don’t know why this just jumped out at us – but as soon as we saw it we thought, ‘yes – we need to go!’ The Muppet themed bar in San Francisco.  Can anyone in the area tell us what it’s like?

That’s it for now – check back early this week though for the big launch!
